Empowerment, Preparedness, and Security with WSAT

Submitted by nestola on

In observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November), the UN Global Service Centre (#UNGSC) was proud to host the Women’s Security Awareness Training (WSAT) — a dedicated learning experience designed to strengthen women’s security awareness, preparedness, and confidence.

Delivered by certified female security professionals, the training provided tailored guidance on safety, protection, and personal awareness through the lens of the UN Security Policy Framework.

Participants strengthened their understanding of gender-specific risks and response strategies, while engaging in practical sessions focused on self-protection and situational awareness. A dedicated self-defense component, led by a qualified instructor, translated theory into physical confidence — helping participants feel more prepared in real-world contexts.

At the conclusion of the course, participants received security awareness materials and resources to reinforce key concepts and encourage continued attention to personal safety and wellbeing.

Through WSAT, UNGSC reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender-sensitive training and empowering women while strengthening shared responsibility for safety and respect across the Organization.
