UNITE FRIM at UNFICYP
UNFICYP integrated so far in FRIM generators, power meters and water meters. The platform allows us to monitor consumption, reduce the number of site visits, better use resources and helps us identify problems early, i.e. with help of FRIM we have identified water leakages on underground water tank. An improved management of resource use can also have a positive effect on the impact of our operations on environment.
In reality, there was not a huge water loss. What was happing was that average consumption was around 4,000 - 5,000 lts per day. We have been checking on site and have seen that every day from 00.00 hrs until 23.59 hrs there was constant water consumption. So the next step was to email the Sector informing them and requesting water usage control. After confirmation was received that water usage control had been implemented but consumption was still high, we proceeded to inspect all pipe lines and start with disconnection of water tanks. It should be noted that since we disconnected the underground tank, the water meter has stopped running constantly and has gone back to normal operation.
