Rule of Law in Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions - A Reality Check

Submitted by caputon on

Rule of law and criminal justice services are key to conflict prevention and sustainable peace.

UNGSC Head of Liaison Ms. Maria D’Aprile was pleased to join Team Leader of the Justice and Corrections Standing Capacity (JCSC)* Mr. Carsten Weber, in addressing students from the University of Trieste’s Course in Law of International Organizations, Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Cooperation.

Through practical examples of the JCSC’s support to peacekeeping and special political missions, including the start-up, reinforcement, and review of Justice and Corrections components, as well as an overview of UNGSC’s activities providing essential supply chain and digital technology services, students gained insights into both the substantive and operational work of the United Nations in the field.

*The JCSC is part of the Office of the Rule of Law and Security Institutions, UN Department of Peace Operations.
