Visit of the European External Action Service (EEAS)

Submitted by Kristof Hamelryckx on

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) was pleased to welcome representatives from the European Union, European External Action Service (EEAS), Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC) for a presentation and tour of UNGSC’s Brindisi Base.
The visit was an opportunity to discuss potential areas of technical cooperation within the Framework Agreement between the United Nations and the European Union for the Provision of Mutual Support in the context of their respective missions and operations in the field, in line with the Department of Operational Support (DOS) priorities. It followed a visit by UNGSC Director Giovanna Ceglie to Brussels in October 2023, and a meeting between the Assistant Secretary-General for Supply Chain Management, Ms. AnneMarie van den Berg, and the CPCC Managing Director, Civilian Operations Commander, Mr. Stefano Tomat, at UN Headquarters in New York in December 2023.
“In the evolving landscape of global peace efforts and crisis management, the EU and the UN are forging a stronger bond, highlighting the critical need for joint endeavors in operational support and a solid commitment to collective action.” -  UNGSC Director, Ms. Giovanna Ceglie
