UN Day 2026 – One Community, Shared Purpose

Submitted by Nadia Caputo on

How does the work carried out across UNGSC translate into impact on the ground?

This was the focus of UNDay 2026, bringing colleagues together to reflect on the people, expertise and shared commitment behind the delivery of United Nations mandates.

Five speakers from UNGSC, the Standing Police Capacity and Justice and Corrections shared their experiences, connecting from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Germany, Valencia and Brindisi.

From remote property management supporting UN offices worldwide to satellite imagery helping advance investigations into missing persons in Cyprus, their stories illustrated how different areas of expertise contribute to UN operations.

The celebrations also included community gatherings and a panel discussion in Brindisi, held as part of PortoPace, focusing on cultural awareness, international cooperation and a shared culture of peace.

Different roles, different locations, one shared purpose: supporting the work of the United Nations.
