As we usher in 2025, we pause to celebrate the remarkable achievements, unwavering resilience, and strengthened partnerships that defined 2024. It was a year of growth, impact, and transformation, and we're excited to build on these milestones in the year ahead.
Celebrating 30 Years of Impact and Innovation
In 2024, we proudly marked a major milestone: the 30th Anniversary of our support for United Nations peace operations. Three decades of service and commitment to global peace were celebrated with distinguished leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who recognized UNGSC a “beacon of service” and “source of pride.”
To commemorate this milestone, we launched a special publication offering a deeper look at our impact in the field through digital technology and supply chain innovation. See the publication here: UNGSC 30th Anniversary Publication.
Supporting Critical UN Operations
Throughout the year, we continued to play a pivotal role in critical UN operations. Notably, we supported the ongoing liquidation of MINUSMA, including overseeing the management and rehabilitation of high value assets such as Integrated Defense Systems equipment.
Our flagship 3R (Return, Refurbish, Reuse) Programme continued to thrive, strengthening our commitment to sustainability and cost-effective solutions.
We also took bold steps to enhance operational efficiency, including the automation of the Strategic Deployment Stocks (SDS) ordering process, allowing us to respond faster to emerging needs. Additionally, we launched the Regional Deployment Stocks Hub to enable swifter fulfillment of urgent peacekeeping troop requirements.
Driving Coordination and Knowledge Sharing
In 2024 we worked together with partners to foster greater collaboration across the UN system. The UN Maps Conference set a record for participation, bringing together more Agencies, Funds, and Programmes than ever before. The COE (Contingent-Owned Equipment) Workshop, attended by numerous Member States, marked a significant step toward expanding Field Remote Infrastructure Monitoring (FRIM) for improved efficiency and environmental sustainability in peace operations.
Resilience in the Face of Crisis
On a local level, our resilience was put to the test when flash floods devastated our host city of Valencia. In this moment of crisis, our teams demonstrated extraordinary solidarity and resourcefulness, ensuring that mission-critical operations continued seamlessly while supporting community recovery efforts. It was a true testament to the strength of our people.
A Major Step Forward: Enhancing Facilities and Capacity
As the year drew to a close, we celebrated a major achievement with the signing of an agreement between the Government of Italy and the United Nations. This agreement secures funding for the improvement of our Brindisi facilities, reinforcing our ability to meet clients' evolving needs and enhancing our operational excellence for years to come.
A Legacy of Leadership and Sustainability
In 2024, we also bid farewell to our Director, Giovanna Ceglie, who concluded her tenure, leaving a legacy of sustainability, innovation, and partnership. Her leadership set the foundation for continued growth and success.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Entering this New Year, we are energized and eager to build on these successes and strengthen our service offerings to the UN system and beyond. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated leadership, staff, clients, and partners—together, we’ve made this possible. Here’s to another year of impact and innovation in 2025!
