Most recently, as Director of Mission Support for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Mr. Antchev played a critical role in the successful implementation of the Mission’s peacekeeping mandate. Earlier in his career, as Chief of Service Delivery with MINUSMA, he oversaw critical operations including air and ground transportation, engineering construction, camp management, communications, and medical services.
Before his tenure with MINUSMA, Mr. Antchev honed his field support expertise in various senior roles, including Chief of the Joint Logistics Operations Centre and Chief of the Property Management Section with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). He also served in key logistical positions with the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), where he was Officer-in-Charge of the Military Support, Planning, and Liaison Section, Chief of the Contingent Owned Equipment Unit, and Logistics Officer. His UN career began as a peacekeeper in Cambodia and Angola, followed by an appointment as a Planning Officer in the Military Planning Service (MPS) within the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).
Mr. Antchev served in the Bulgarian Army for 20 years, culminating in his role as Infantry Battalion Commander. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and has received several national and international distinctions, including the Bulgarian Armed Forces Medal for “Merit Service under the Flags” and the U.S. State of Texas Medal for “Merit Service” for his contributions during his service with the Stabilisation Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
