Herbert Pechek

UNGSC Supply Chain Service
Mr. Pechek has over 25 years of professional experience in a wide range of supply chain, engineering, and project management activities. He joined UNGSC in April 2021 as Chief of the Supply Chain Service where he oversees and manages operational support to UN field entities. His portfolio includes supply network management; innovation and infrastructure support; environmental support; the management of the strategic deployment stock; global material life cycle management; mission support teams; warehouse and distribution; and reverse logistics, including the Return-Refurbish-Reuse (3R) Program.
Mr. Pechek holds a master’s degree in construction management from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, and a range of professional certifications (CSCP, CLTD, SCOR-P). In his assignments he focuses on concept-based process transformation; a customer-centric service delivery design; performance and service optimization; as well as innovative solution design and people development. He was previously assigned to peacekeeping missions in Somalia, Haiti, Timor Leste, and Kosovo, and worked at United Nations Headquarters between 2007-10. Mr. Pechek substantially contributed to the introduction of horizontally structured end-to-end supply chain processes in United Nations peacekeeping operations and is a regular keynote speaker at supply chain conferences and events.
He is a native of Austria, is married, and has three children.
