Junior Professional Officers


As a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) at UNGSC you will gain hands-on under the supervision of specialists and contribute to the advancement of the Organization’s mandate. JPOs are recruited under bilateral agreements between the UN and donor countries. Candidates are young professionals, usually with an advanced university degree and a minimum of two years of professional experience. The JPO programme is administrated by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA): https://www.un.org/development/desa/jpo/donor-countries

The Global General Service Test (GGST)
The Global General Service Test (GGST) is a requirement for external candidates applying for General Service positions. 

The GGST is a computer-based, proctored global test, which has replaced the Administrative Services Assessment Test (ASAT) on 15 July 2014. It is an entry level assessment requirement for recruiting into the positions in the General Service (GS) category. The GGST assesses job-relevant abilities and core competencies of the long-listed applicants for GS positions, through work-relevant scenarios and tasks, in an efficient, effective, and fair manner.  

Who has to take the GGST?
The test is required for candidates applying for GS positions at all levels (1-7) without a valid ASAT/GGST score, with the exception of certain functions (e.g., Security Officers, Nurses, Gardeners, and Trades and Crafts), for which the existing appropriate tests will be given.
