ACABQ Visit to UNGSC in Brindisi and Valencia
A few productive days with the ACABQ to highlight the impact of our services in the field and our efforts to become increasingly efficient by investing in innovation.
A delegation of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ), as final part of their annual tour, visited the United Nations Global Service Centre in Brindisi and Valencia from 18 through 22 September, offering their precious inputs on important processes for the new budget.
The ACABQ is a subsidiary organ of the General Assembly. It is an expert Committee of twenty-one members appointed by the Assembly in their individual capacity and they examine and advise on budgetary matters.
The visit was a privileged opportunity to showcase UNGSC broad range of activities and services and their positive impact in the field and our approach at increasing efficiency and gaining relevance by investing in innovation. All stops and briefings on the new SDS concept, the Green Island, the FRIMM, the CLC 2.0, the OSH, the cost Recovery and the service management, the entire tour of the facilities was pervaded by sustainability and environment as cross cutting elements.
The visit was also a great opportunity to remark on the outstanding results produced by the critical capacities in terms of COVID-19 pandemic response.
The potential for broadening partnership to link UNGSC activities to the 2030 Agenda, and the investment in capacity building to be able to provide services in a sustainable manner were discussed as part of the conclusive remarks of this valuable and energizing high level visit in Brindisi and Valencia.
